Beastie Boys' Mike D. Opens Up On The Loss Of Bandmate Adam Yauch

The music world lost a great musician when Beastie Boys rapper Adam “MCA” Yauch passed away on May 4, 2012. He suffered a three-year battle with cancer, but succumbed to the illness.

Since his passing, Adam “Ad Rock” Horovitz spoke out on his friend’s passing on Sunday evening. He took to his Tumblr account to thank friends and family members for their outpouring of “love and support”. Now, Mike D. is opening up about the loss of his long-time friend.

In a post on the group’s official Facebook page, Mike D. admitted that he is still struggling to come to terms with his friend’s death. He wrote, “I know, we should have tweeted and instagrammed every sad, happy and inspired thought, smile or tear by now. But honestly the last few days have just been a blur of deep emotions for our closest friend, band mate and really brother. I miss Adam so much.”

He went on to say, “He really served as a great example for myself and so many of what determination, faith, focus and humility coupled with a sense of humor can accomplish. The world is in need of many more like him. We love you Adam.”
