Despite previously proclaiming his own innocence, R&B singer Chris Brown has been booked for the hit and run charge from May. He turned himself in and was booked and released on his own recognizance, according to reports.
The charge stems from a minor fender bender in May and, because he was not arrested at the time of the incident, Brown had until August 6th to turn himself in to police for booking. So, he basically snuck into the jail.
The Fine China singer, 24, reported to the Van Nuys jail in California on Monday afternoon where he was booked and released on his own recognizance in just 45 minutes, according to a report from TMZ.
Brown’s probation relating to his 2009 assault on then-girlfriend Rihanna was revoked at a court hearing in July and he faces up to four years behind bars if found guilty of the hit-and-run.
His next court date has been scheduled for August 15, 2013.
