Eddie Van Halen & Son Wolfgang Have Pre-Concert Anxiety

Like father, like son!

It appears that Wolfgang Van Halen is following in his famous father’s footsteps. The hard rock duo have revealed that they share a bond in their pre-show anxiety.

So who do they handle their anxieties? Wolfgang deals with it by constantly practicing the band’s songs backstage while his dad runs to the bathroom to throw up. In a new interview with “USA Today”, Eddie said, “Really. I did it [threw up] just before the show last night. Then I don’t eat, so by the time I get offstage, I’m cooked. I don’t know what I’m afraid of. I guess I always thought I entered the wrong business.”

Wolfgang said, “It’s a Van Halen thing. We get that anxiety where you think you’re going to die, but really nothing’s going to happen to you.”

They are set to wrap up the tour on June 26, 2012 in Louisiana after the band pulled the plug on their current tour. Eddie said of that decision, “We bit of more than we could chew. This record took a lot out of us. And we went on tour earlier than we wanted to so we could play Madison Square Garden, and that threw the schedule out of whack.”

Fans will be happy to learn that the band would resume their “A Different Kind Of Truth” tour in November in Japan. Eddie also teased that “in the new year we’ll possibly do something special, but I can’t talk about it.”

The guitar god also dispelled any rumors that have been circulating that he and David Lee Roth were feuding. He said, “Dave’s the same as he’s always been, funny, witty. Sometimes I can only take that in small doses, because he just goes on an on.”
