After already being involved in the Muppets, Jason Segel has decided to author a series of children’s books. We can’t imagine a more suitable author for a genre of books. Doesn’t he seem like he’s such a great guy? Perhaps he is wanting to do this to get back in the good graces of his ex-girlfriend Michelle Williams?
The book series is titled “Nightmares!” and will be co-written by Kirsten Miller. CBS News reports:
“Nightmares!” is an adventure story about a group of kids who realize it’s up to them to save their town from fear, which has manifested itself in the form of nightmare creatures that have entered the everyday world. In essence, the series is about kids overcoming their fears.
Segel first hatched the premise as a movie project. He wrote a screenplay years ago, though it got stuck in turnaround, so Segel took it back and reverse-adapted it into a book.
The actor said in a press release, “Ultimately, it’s a story about learning that we can accomplish anything, as long as we are brave enough to try. These are the types of stories that always inspired me.”
Random House’s president and publisher, Barbara Marcus said, “Jason Segel has the perfect voice to write for children. Nightmares! is inventive, genuine, and relatable to middle-grade readers. We’re thrilled to see Jason’s creative vision translated to the page, and can’t wait to introduce him to the publishing world as a tremendous new talent.”
The first book in the series is expected to hit shelves in the fall of 2014.
