John Travolta Defends Church Of Scientology After 'Going Clear' Debuts

Going Clear made its debut on HBO on March 29th, but don’t count on John Travolta giving it any viewership. The actor says he has no plans to see the movie based upon his controversial religion, Scientology.

He revealed in a new interview, “I’ve been so happy with my experience in the last forty years that I don’t have anything to say that would shed light on [a film] so decidedly negative.”

He also said that he and fellow member Tom Cruise have no reason to condemn the religion because their experiences have been positive. He said, “It wouldn’t make sense, nor would it for Tom, I imagine.”

Travolta also talked of the assistance he received from the church, saying, “Oh, my God, I wouldn’t have made it – honestly.”

He revealed, “I’ve helped so many people through hard times. Loss of children, loved ones, physical illnesses. Through many tough, tough life situations I’ve used the technology to support them and help them. It’s always worked. So, why would I even approach a negative perspective? That would be a crime to me, personally, to do that.”

He said that the movie is a product of “people who were disgruntled with their experiences.”

Have you seen Going Clear? If so, what was your experience with the documentary?
