Katy Perry Releases New Album, Prizm

October 22, 2013 – New York, NY – PRISM, Katy Perry’s new studio album, is out today- Purchase PRISM now! The album is the follow-up to 2010’s Teenage Dream, which debuted at No. 1 in eight countries and spent more than two years on the Billboard 200. “PRISM reveals Katy Perry at her most empowered,” said Billboard and The New York Times noted, “Katy Perry is the most potent pop star of the day.”

Katy is celebrating the release of PRISM with a series of special events:

– Clear Channel Media and Entertainment recently announced its new music and events venue – iHeartRadio Theater Los Angeles located at The Burbank Studios in Burbank, CA. The iHeartRadio Theater Los Angeles will kick off with the Katy Perry iHeartRadio Album Release Party which will celebrate the release of her new studio album, PRISM. The event will feature a live performance and Q&A with Katy Perry discussing the making of her upcoming album, hosted by on-air talent and TV personality Mario Lopez. The event will air in its entirety live on 175 Clear Channel Contemporary Hit Radio (CHR), Rhythmic CHR, Adult Contemporary (AC) and Hot AC stations around the country and exclusively online at Yahoo Screen (http://screen.yahoo.com/music) on October 22, at 6 p.m. PT/9 p.m. ET. In addition, the party will be recorded and televised on The CW Network on October 25 at 9 p.m. ET. In addition to the iHeartRadio Album Release Party, all day today, Katy will take over all Clear Channel CHR radio stations nationwide and on iHeartRadio, in a first-of-its-kind all day promotion, to play her favorite music and tracks from her new album. CCM+E will brand its stations “Katy Perry Radio” for an entire day with Katy herself acting as guest DJ, discussing the album and how it was created.

– Citi and CBS Radio will present Katy Perry’s WE CAN SURVIVE tomorrow, October 23, at the famed Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles. Ellie Goulding, Sara Bareilles, Tegan & Sara, Kacey Musgraves and Bonnie McKee will join Katy for this sold-out show with a portion of the proceeds benefiting the Young Survival Coalition, the premier global organization dedicated to the critical issues unique to young women who are diagnosed with breast cancer. Earlier in the evening, Citi ThankYou cardmembers will enjoy an exclusive and unique pre-show acoustic performance and Q&A with Katy.

– Nearly 1,000 high schools submitted lip dub videos of “Roar,” the first single from PRISM, to ABC’s “Good Morning America” “Roar” contest. Katy will play a special concert at the winning school, Lakewood High School in Lakewood, CO, on Friday, October 25 – which happens to be her birthday.

“Roar” became Katy’s 10th #1 Top 40 track after debuting at #1 on iTunes in 68 countries with 557,024 downloads in the US alone during its first week of release, the biggest digital song sales week of 2013. In a mere six weeks, it also reached the top of the Adult Top 40 (HOT AC) chart, the quickest climb to #1 since the chart debuted in 1996. The first 330,000 copies of the deluxe version of PRISM will be released in a limited edition iridescent digipak and include a sheet of seed paper that fans can plant. A special PRISM ‘ZinePak will be available exclusively at Walmart. It features the deluxe 16-track CD enclosed in a 64-page magazine that Katy helped create plus exclusive items designed by Katy,including an embroidered patch, nail decals, temporary tattoos symbolizing each of her albums, Killer Queen fragrance sample and plantable seed paper.

Katy, who recently performed at the iHeart and iTunes festivals, co-wrote each track on PRISM. She recorded seven songs in her hometown of Santa Barbara, working with Max Martin, Dr. Luke and Cirkut. Katy cut an additional two tracks with Martin and Klas Ahlund in Stockholm, Sweden. PRISM also features collaborations with Bloodshy (“Love Me”), Greg Kurstin and Sia (“Double Rainbow”), as well as a return to the studio with “Firework” producers Stargate (“This Moment”).
