Katy Perry Turns Down $20 Million For 'American Idol'

Pop singer Katy Perry has declined a $20 million offer to judge the upcoming twelfth season of “American Idol”. Can you imagine being offered that kind of money for a year’s worth of work and then being financially stable enough to say “no thanks”? Katy can, apparently!

Katy’s name was among the few that were being courted for the judging position, alongside pop diva Mariah Carey. Among the names being considered are Nicki Minaj, Joe Jonas, Keith Urban and Kanye West. Katy was said to have been offered a starting bid of $18 million, but they negotiated it up to $20 million in an effort to get her to sign on the dotted line.

A source revealed, “She was being hotly pursued. They really wanted her.”

In July, Katy said of the job, “People have reached out to me about the possibility of being involved, and it’s not right for me yet.”

Who do you think would be a good fit on the “American Idol” judging panel? Sound off with your thoughts in the comments!
