On the anniversary of President Kennedy’s assassination what else would you expect from Lady Gaga and R Kelly? The duo teamed up to deliver a spicy performance of “Do What U Want.” The music track served as background for a re-enactment of what the two recording stars imagined a Marilyn Monroe/JFK moment would look like.
Leave it to Gaga and Kelly to serve up a helping of scandal amidst a day on which President Kennedy’s death was being remembered. There was no need for either singer to state that they used the Marilyn-JFK affair as inspiration for their titillating scenes onstage. Lady Gaga was dressed to impress and she certainly channeled the late Hollywood legend by donning a white halter dress and blonde wig. With these accessories and a talented make-up artist there was no doubt as to who she was portraying. R. Kelly wore a tailored, classic suit that gave him a powerful and influential appearance. Dare we say “presidential appearance?”
Actually the scene that R Kelly and Gaga performed did not generate as much controversial buzz as did performances by Miley Cyrus and Katy Perry. Guess the shock value of Marilyn Monroe seducing JFK has been seriously weakened over the years. It still raises the question as to the level of taste and decorum that Gaga and Kelly apparently share.
