It’s no secret who Madonna will be voting for this election, but she was booed for her choice when she tried to push her political opinions on the crowd at a recent concert. On Saturday, October 27th, Madge encouraged her MDNA concertgoers in New Orleans to vote Democrat and wasn’t exactly met with such a favorable response.
She asked the crowd, “Who’s registered to vote?” Afterward, she said, “I don’t care who you vote for as long as you vote for Obama.”
Right afterward, she was met with boos and some fans even left the venue. After the fan response, she added, “Seriously, I don’t care who you vote for…do not take this privilege for granted. Go vote.”
The singer has mentioned the commander-in-chief in previous concerts, as well. In Washington, D.C. last month, she talked about Abraham Lincoln and Martin Luther King, Jr. She told her audience then, “They killed him, as they do. It is so incredible to think that we have an African-American in the White House. Those fine human beings did not die for nothing!”
She has also been criticized for referring to the president as a “black Muslim” after the concert. She addressed that by saying, “I was being ironic on stage. Yes I know Obama is not a Muslim – though I know that plenty of people in this country think he is. And what if he were? The point I was making is that a good man is a good man no matter who he prays to. I don’t care what religion Obama is – nor should anyone else in America.”
