If you’ve heard Lady Gaga’s song, Born This Way and it immediately made you think of Madonna’s song, Express Yourself — then you’re not alone. As soon as the album came out, fans of the singers were drawing comparisons.
Up until now, Madonna has been pretty mum on the topic. When responding to the comparisons, Lady Gaga only offered that she is a huge fan of Madonna’s. Now, Madonna is giving her own opinion on the songs.
In a new interview, Madonna said, “I thought ‘what a wonderful way to redo my song.’ I mean, I recognized the chord changes. I thought it was…interesting.”
Either way, they are both good songs. What we are wondering is why it took so long for Madge to address the copycat rumors. Lady Gaga’s album was released in May of 2011 and she has waited until 2012 to talk about it. Could it be out of respect for Gaga? Or could it be because she’s releasing her twelfth album, M.D.N.A., this year?
What do you think? What do you have to say about Madge’s comments on Gaga’s album? It was pretty obvious that Gaga refurbished the song to suit her own needs, but should Madonna have waited so long to say something about it? Thoughts?
