Miley Cyrus 'Made History' With Silly VMAs Twerking

Former Disney teen queen Miley Cyrus is adamant she has ignored the torrent of criticism she received for her ultra-raunchy dance routine at the MTV Video Music Awards last month, insisting: “I made history.”

The former Hannah Montana actress provoked a tidal wave of outrage on both sides of the Atlantic by donning skin-tight flesh-colored underwear and cavorting with singer Robin Thicke during their performance at the event in New York.

Despite several stars, including Justin Timberlake and Lady Gaga, speaking out to defend Cyrus, she has remained tight-lipped about the backlash – until now.

The former child star spoke to MTV days after the scandal and insisted she has done nothing wrong.
She says, “I don’t pay attention to the negative because I’ve seen this play out so many times. How many times have we seen this play out in pop music?”

Referring to previous racy moments at the VMAs, she adds, “Madonna’s done it. Britney’s done it. Every VMA performance, that’s what you’re looking for; you’re wanting to make history… Me and Robin the whole time said, ‘You know we’re about to make history right now’.

“What’s amazing is I think now, we’re three days later and people are still talking about it. They’re over-thinking it. You’re thinking about it more than I thought about it when I did it. Like, I didn’t even think about it ’cause that’s just me!”
