Paula Abdul admits that she wasn’t prepared to be terminated from her job as judge on the first season of “The X Factor USA” and that losing her job came as a shock to her. In a new interview, Paula talked about her firing and Simon Cowell’s viewership wishes.
She said, “I didn’t see it coming. What I did see coming is that he was stuck between a rock and a hard place, after he opened his mouth and said anything less than 20 million viewers would be a failure. For him, he thought change was bold and a big departure for what was going on. He felt that was important. I’ve been in this business way too long. Change and business is business and it sometimes supersedes any personal type of business. I wish him luck.”
When she was fired, along with Nicole Scherzinger, they were replaced by Britney Spears and Demi Lovato, but Paula says that she doesn’t hold any ill will toward either of them. She said, “I’m looking forward to seeing how they do. I wish them the best of luck. When you have a long career such as Britney, she knows what she’s doing. I hope she has fun, same thing with Demi. What’s the best advice I can give them? Don’t take mine, obviously!”
