Robert Downey Jr. Releases Statement Regarding Son Indio's Cocaine Arrest

On Saturday, Indio Downey was cruising around West Hollywood with a pal when they happened to drive past a cop. The cop noticed Indio smoking something from a pipe and decided to pull them over. Indio was then searched and found to have cocaine on his person. He was taken away and booked at the local police department for possession of a controlled substance.

A spokesperson for the police department said, “Saturday afternoon around 2pm, he was a passenger in a car. It was stopped by a sheriff’s deputy because it appeared he was using narcotics paraphernalia to ingest. He was stopped, investigated and found to be in possession of that paraphernalia and a controlled substance believed to be cocaine.”

Since, his father Robert Downey, Jr. has spoken out about his son’s arrest. He said in a statement, “Unfortunately there’s a genetic component to addiction and Indio has likely inherited it. Also, there is a lot of family support and understanding, and we’re all determined to rally behind him and help him become the man he’s capable of being. We’re grateful to the Sheriff’s department for their intervention, and believe Indio can be another recovery success story instead of a cautionary tale.”

Indio has also released a statement saying, “I am sorry for what happened. I spent a strange time and I was not myself, thanks for your support and be close to me. I love you.”
