It’s an all new performance episode of “American Idol” and only four competitors remain vying for the “Idol” crown. For her “California Dreamin'” number, Jessica Sanchez is performing her rendition of “Steal Away” by Etta James. In case you’re missing the show, you can read our live recap here.
Jessica spoke of her song choice for this round, saying that it’s been difficult. She revealed, “This week’s theme is ‘California Dreamin’ and it’s been a difficult one because people have been telling me, ‘more current songs this and that’ and this was a week where I could sing a current song. But really I’m trying to stay with my gut feeling and I’m trying to pull out the really big guns, so I’m singing a big song for both of my choices. Don’t expect a Katy Perry song.”
Left in the competition are Phillip Phillips, Joshua Ledet, Jessica Sanchez and Hollie Cavanagh. Who’s your favorite?
Jennifer Lopez said the growl is natural. She’s one of the best. Steven Tyler said that he loved it and it showed the other side of her voice. She’s shaking off the old her and is changing. Randy Jackson said he loves the vibe that she’s sixteen and is singing Etta James. Truly great singers like Jessica can sing the phone book.
